Send via Pixi

Automatically send a separate email with a custom body and PDF invoice attachment directly from Pixi.

Overview

Send via Pixi lets you send invoices as dedicated emails, separate from Shopify’s default notifications. Emails are delivered from Pixi’s email service and include a customizable subject, body, and PDF attachment.

Note: Send via Pixi is available on the Business plan and above.

How It Works

  • Emails are sent from Pixi’s servers
  • Each message includes your chosen template as a PDF attachment.
  • You can customize subject, body, CC/BCC, and attachment name.
  • Dynamic variables allow personalization with customer and order details.

Setup Steps

  1. Go to Pixi Order Printer → Email → Create new automation.
  2. Select Send via Pixi.
  3. Choose the receiver:
    • Customer — send to the buyer automatically.
    • Specific Email — send to another address such as your accountant, warehouse, or printer.
  4. Select the Order type (Final Order or Draft Order).
  5. Pick the Order template to attach as a PDF.

Sending Options

You can choose how invoices are delivered:

  • Send automatically on a trigger event
    Pixi sends the email as soon as the selected event occurs.
  • I’ll send manually
    You can send invoices from the Pixi Orders page or via Shopify Admin → More actions.

Trigger Events

Pixi supports the following trigger events:

  • Order created — send an invoice when a new order is placed.
  • Order updated — resend an invoice when details change.
  • Order fulfilled — send an invoice or packing slip when the order ships.
  • Order cancelled — notify customers with a cancellation invoice.
  • Order paid — send an invoice after successful payment.

Send to Specific Email

Pixi’s Specific Email option lets you send documents to addresses other than your customers. This opens up a wide range of use cases:

  • Accountant — automatically send invoices for bookkeeping.
  • Warehouse or logistics team — provide packing slips or invoices for order preparation.
  • Printer email — some printers accept email-to-print, allowing invoices to be printed automatically.
  • Business partners — share order documents with suppliers or fulfillment partners.

This feature makes Pixi flexible enough to fit into your broader business operations, not just customer communication.

Customize Email Details

Edit and personalize your email:

  • Subject line
  • Body text
  • Reply-to address
  • CC / BCC recipients
  • Attachment name

Using Variables

Variables make your emails dynamic. Examples include:

  • {{invoice_name}}
  • {{invoice_number}}
  • {{link}} — download link to PDF
  • {{total_amount}}
  • {{order_date}}
  • {{shop_name}}
  • {{shop_phone}}
  • {{customer.first_name}}
  • {{customer.last_name}}

Result

Once saved, Pixi will automatically (or manually, if selected) send out a professional invoice email complete with your chosen template as a PDF attachment. You can deliver these emails to customers, your accountant, your warehouse, or even a printer that accepts email-to-print.
